This is the website you are on right now! It is my first website, and I made it with basically no web development experience at all. I built it with Hugo and the Blowfish theme, and hosted it on Cloudflare Pages. Kudos to the developer - Nuno Coração for making this beautiful theme and the helpful documentations!
The original theme I used was the Toha theme by Emruz Hossain. I switched to the Blowfish theme because I think it is more elegant, and the Toha theme wasn’t actively maintain for more than a year (but the project is now active as of March 24th, 2024). However, I still want to give a shout-out to them because it is also a nice looking theme!
Why did I make my own website?
I recently got restricted on LinkedIn, and I thought to myself: how dare they do that to me! That is basically the motivation behind making my own website. I want to make my own “platform” that nobody would ban me because I am the one in control (I know I sounded a bit like Elon Musk, but I made my website before he bought Twitter). I also think of it as my alternative presence on the public internet, just in case anything happened (*knock on wood*).
Ok, ok, I know what you are saying - what if Cloudflare banned you too? For that to happen, I either did something illegal or the world has become a dystopia, or both! In that case, fine, I will host it myself.
